Car journeys can be a bit boring. The journey can seem very long and tedious to children. Why not make up your own In Car Bingo Game to keep everyone busy and amused during the trip?

Making Up the Bingo Cards

When you know you have a long trip coming up you can help your kids to make up some bingo cards.

They are easy to make and once you’ve shown them how to make the cards they will be able to produce their own for any future trips.

Make up a list of things you might see during a journey.

Use thick paper or the inside of a cereal packet for the bingo cards. Draw a grid on the thick paper or packet card.

Write the things from the list onto the bingo cards – one item per box.

You can make this game suitable for younger children by using pictures (either draw simple shapes or cut out photos from magazines).

To Play the Game

Once you’ve started the journey you can play the game.

The first person to cross off all the items is the winner.

You only get to cross off the item if you are the first person to see it and point it out to everyone else (so there’s no cheating).

If there is a wide age difference between the children you could use different bingo objects on the cards and make the ones for the older children with some more difficult to find items.By: Catherine Calder

Bingo is a game of luck, give your luck a push with one of the following strategies:

1. Play as often as you can…

i. Have fun…Bingo is a game of chance. Visit with your friends and you will WIN once in a while. Some mathematicians believe that the secret to winning bingo is staying in the game as long as you can. If the game lasts long enough, your number will come up. Playing as often as you can is better than blowing up all your money on one game.

2. Play during the week when attendance is typically lower.

i. Buy as many cards as you can. This means choosing the least expensive level 1 option available. You will win less per game but you win more often. Make sure to purchase the ‘bonus ball’ (or whatever your hall calls the bingo add on). Some halls allow you to buy the ‘add-on’ just one time for all the cards you have purchased

ii. If you are are the type of player that does not like to compete against a lot of cards, choose a session with only 1 level of play. All players will receive the same amount of cards for the same spend. This will increase your odds of winning as you will not be playing against a lot of single pay cards.

3. Play when the jackpots are high

Jackpots are more likely to be WON when they are high. Some bingo players follow jackpots. When jackpots are high or the coverall number is high, typically attendance is up. Why not…Someone has to WIN…It might as well be you. More money at these sessions, but the competition is fierce.

OTHER Tips:

1. Never play more cards than you can watch.

2. Look for available coupons. Halls will often have coupons to direct players to slower days…

3. There are two philosophies for picking numbers for your do-it-yourself: (1) Choose numbers that come out more often. (2) Choose numbers that have come up less frequently as these numbers may be due. If you believe that certain sets of bingo balls have numbers that come up more than other numbers, the first philosophy is one that you ought to choose.

4. The more you play, the more you will win. So don’t use all your money on one game. Play as long as you can and as often as your can.

5. Analyze the bingo session

To Analyze Bingo Sessions, apply this formula.

What you would spend / Total possible payout = Bingo Factor.

The smaller the bingo factor, the better…

Example: $50 Spend/ $10,000 Payout = .005

Versus

$72 Spend/ $28,000 Payout = .00257

The $28,000 special is better – But there will be more competition.

Bottom line…play smart, hope for the best, and above all, have fun.By: Jenynne DeNoble

Bingo is one of the winding up game in humankind. This can be considered as game for all ages. Rules and mechanics are easy to conform. So, lets play bingo thinking those steering below.

Beginning Bingo

Bingo is credibly one of the most easygoing games on the planet; all you need are bingo cards, bingo chips, the ability to distinguish numbers, fast eyes and a prize, even youngsters can do it.

Objective of the game:

The objective of the game is to fill in the pattern called for in a certain game with the lowest number of calls. Patterns are decided before the game begins, it can either be a full horizontal, or vertical, a diagonal, an X, a box, or what they call block out, in which you will have to occupy your complete card.

Bingo Cards

Bingo cards have the letters B, I, N, G and O over the top of five columns. Each column hast a set of numbers running from 1 to 75.

The B column has numbers from 1-15, the I column has numbers, 16-30, the N column has numbers from 31 to 45, the G column has numbers from 46 to 60, and the O column has numbers from 61 to 75. Each column may only have 5 numbers from their various ranges.

The card forms a reference grid in which the center grid, the third row of the N column is marked free, this cell does not have to be filled.

Game Play

First you need at least one Bingo card, you may have more than one bingo card at one time, depending upon your marking agility.

The game begins once the host tells everybody the pattern to be made.

Listen for the first ball, the host will shout a letter, either B, I, N, G or O, for the column then a number, e.g. O-70. Search for this number on your card and mark it at once.

The host keeps on calling out letters and numbers until somebody finishes the pattern called for.

The individual with a completed pattern should at once shout out bingo! To inform everybody that he has completed the pattern and has won the game.

The host will then affirm all the numbers and their location on your card, either by taking your card, or by having someone shout out the numbers that made you make the pattern.

Another bingo game may start subsequently, either with the same or another pattern, or same or different prize.

The prize should be right away given after a Bingo.

Tips

Never yell BINGO if you have not completed a pattern as this stops the game and can be very annoying for other players.By: Garland Choate

The roots of Bingo can be traced way back to the year 1530, when an Italian, state run lottery called “Lo Gioco del Lotto d’Italia” first began. Over a century later, the French adopted a similar game, one version of which used a playing-card grid of numbers. A caller would reach into a bag and draw out wooden tokens which were marked 1 – 90, and the first player to cover over all the numbers on their card would be marked the winner. This was the first lottery-style bingo game to be seen, the craze spread and soon was very popular all over Europe.

The Bingo that we know today was developed during the late ’50s and early ’60s and its growth is linked with the introduction of television (in particular ITV) which had a damaging effect on cinema ticket sales, as more people could now watch news and other shows from the comfort of their own home. This meant that cinema owners needed to create a new attraction, something that would draw people from the TV set and back to the cinema. That something was Bingo.

To begin with, Bingo was only played on certain days of the week when films were not being shown, but the cinema owners soon found that these ‘Bingo nights’ were much more popular than then film nights, and so they devoted more and more time to the game – eventually phasing out films altogether. Conversion of cinemas to Bingo halls was a pretty simple task, involving taking out the screen, installing bingo apparatus, removing tiered seating and adding new tables and chairs.

During the 1960s and 1970s, Bingo exploded across the country and almost every town had at least one Bingo hall. The game’s popularity went further than just being a numbers game; people came not only to play Bingo [http://www.galabingo.co.uk], but also to socialise, have a meal and a drink, and catch up on gossip.

As the game’s popularity grew, a whole new language evolved along side it, all related to the game and its rules, most famously, the nicknames of the Bingo numbers that callers use. For example, a caller might say “Tony’s Den, number ten”, or “All the fives, fifty five”. Many of the terms are simply rhyming slang; others are based on the shapes of the numbers, for example, number 22, is also called “Two Little Ducks”, because the shape of number two is similar to that of a duck’s neck. Other nicknames are based on popular culture, for example “The Beatles Number” for 64, simply because of their well know hit “When I’m 64″.

Though bingo clubs have struggled to attract the numbers they did during their hey-day, the new generation of online bingo players has appeared, and with them, the age-old game enters a new, phase of its long history.By: Andrew Regan
